Where the words come from

They are drawn from a curated set of intermediate to advanced English words, roughly CEFR B1 to C2: common enough to be genuinely useful, uncommon enough that meeting one is worth a page of its own. The date alone decides which one is featured, so the choice is the same for every reader.
